CAR SERVICING : COMMERCIAL VEHICLE SERVICING : CARDIFF
Taking your car to a garage for a service can be a bit of a minefield. Most people go on recommendation, others take a chance and many people get ripped off.
CAR-FIX will always give an honest opinion and keep you fully informed. You will leave confident that the work has been finished to a high standard and with a complete understanding of all the services provided and paid for. You will also get a smile and a thank you.
Complete estimates are always provided and in the current climate repairs are organised to fit your budget. We try to make servicing your vehicle as easy as possible, life is hard enough as it is.
We want you to trust us and to tell your family and friends about the service you receive so it is in our own best interest to treat people the way we would expect to be treated.
IF I BUY A NEW CAR DO I HAVE TO SERVICE IT AT THE DEALERSHIP?
European Regulations governing the sale and after sales servicing of new cars changed in October 2003. For new cars purchased after that date you are no longer obliged during the warranty period to get the car serviced by a franchise dealer. You must however continue to get the car serviced according the to manufacturer’s recommended schedule and criteria using only manufacturer approved parts.
I THINK THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES
Noisy braking? Gring or screeching?. Does your brake pedal travel further than it used to? Front Brake Pads average around 30,000 miles so have them checked. This will be picked up in a service.
WHEN SHOULD ENGINE OIL BE CHANGED?
That depends. your manufacturers handbook will tell you the frequency at which to change the oil & filter. At the time of writing my Mercedes A-Class 160 gets taken care of every 10,000 miles but some people will have to chnage their oil every 6,000 miles. Check the manufacturers handbook for more information. This will be done during a service.
WHEN SHOULD I CHANGE MY ANTI-FREEZE?
For normal anti-freeze, manufacturers recommendchanging the coolant every 2-3 years or 30, 000 mile. Some people recommend changing it every year for full all year round protection. sSeveral antifreeze suppliers have just recently introduced "long life" antifreeze formulations that claim to provide protection for four years or 50,000 miles. This can be done during the service.
MY AIR CONDITIONING IS NOT...ERM..CONDITIONING
Ah-ha this is why regular servicing is a good idea. If you don't use the air conditioning all year round it can lose its effectiveness. Most vehicle manufacturers advise running the air conditioning system at least once a week throughout the year. The biggest problem air conditioning units have is the loss of refrigerant. You can lose an average of about 15% per year but obviously if you don't use it that figure will increase. We can recharge your air conditioning during the service.
